Underdog to Empire
You've been overlooked. Underestimated. Counted out before you even got started. You're tired of proving yourself to rooms that weren't built for you, and somewhere in the back of your mind, you know you could build something better on your own. If you've ever felt like the Underdog and are ready to start your own business on your terms, this is your playbook.
Pat Miller knows exactly how that feels. She went from hauling produce on her dad's farmstand in rural New Jersey to building a multi-million-dollar commercial construction company; one of the few women at the top of an industry built by and for men. After losing her husband and business partner, she rebuilt from scratch with nothing but grit, resourcefulness, and a refusal to stay down. Now, in her no-nonsense, say-it-like-it-is style, she's handing you the same blueprint that took her from Underdog to Top Dog. And she's not sugarcoating a damn thing.
Inside, you'll learn how to:
- Turn being underestimated into your greatest competitive edge
- Build a reputation so strong they stop shopping around and just call you first
- Start lean, move fast, and win work before you feel "ready"
- Get back up after the kind of hit that makes most people quit
- Stay hungry, humble, and true to yourself — even after you've made it
Every lesson in this book came from the real world. Pat lived it, built it, and is handing it straight to you - because the next Underdog success story we read should be yours.

Wow...what a great book, I couldn’t put it down.
Amazing courage in the face of so much challenge!
I happen to know Pat personally, but haven’t seen her since her brother’s funeral. It was heartbreaking to read all the challenges she faced in the years after Jim’s passing. That being said, I’m not at all surprised she rose to the challenge and “kicked ass”! She’s always been an amazing person - strong and caring. I found her journey to success very inspiring. Next time I’m overwhelmed, I will grab and reread Kicking Karma’s Ass - and know that I can do anything if I work at it. Thanks for the amazing read Pat!
